Tree Hugger

Walking home from work I noticed a huge tree had been cut down. Near fifty chunks of wood were on the ground in a pile. One of the logs, about two feet in diameter and two feet tall sat separate from the others, at the bus stop steps away. It appeared that someone rolled the log over for fun or used it as a bench to wait for the bus. Brilliant!

Near 100 pounds, I lifted that log like the incredible hulk and carried it a few blocks to my apartment. A flat screwdriver is a great makeshift chisel when paired with a hammer. It took a few days to chip the bark off the whole log. A few more days and I’ve sanded, lacquered and put castors on it

Thanks to who ever pushed the log a bit aside to the bus stop. You created inspiration for a real live (free) piece of furniture.
