Ice, Ice Baby

I'm not quite sure if this fits into my theme of "home" stuff, but I am making it so. We all have a journal type thing around the house...? The Salon of Shame was this week and if you have ever heard or been you know why I am writing.

About 160 adults pack into a theater to hear a selected few read their pre-teen and teen anst journals for 5 minutes each-for fame or horror- depending on how extroverted you are.

We'll I got in for free because my GF read. Wow, she was great. Check out the review of the event by the organizer in Seattle (who is cute as a button). To see Cynthia to see with Vanilla Ice in a Lisa Frank Notebook look here. I cried tears of joy the whole time. HALARIOUS.

So do yourself a favor and bring some cheer into your life, homes and friends by going to this as soon as you can- at a theater near you!

Beautiful foods

I went to the Fish Fry in Capitol Hill and was mezmarized by the jars of home canned food on the wall: lemons, beets, pickles, cabbage. I liked the simplicity of the place anyway, but the jars made this litte eatery delightful. So on one late Saturday my canning food fantacies began.

A week later I went thrifting and found a humungous canning pot, rack and lifter for $5.

The dream is closer.

The date: December 24th-30th. I will be a canning machine. Sure I have to learn, but I am SO looking forward to this science experiement...and oh...ah...gift givaways for all the holidays! Oh ah...And rows of rainbow pickled foods in my kitchen.
