Dancing around the record player

When I hear the sound of surround sound speakers I can appreciate the goodness. But the looks of good sound, (unless you have a large closet to hide everything in or a ton of money) can be less than esthetically pleasing. And the cords are just too much.

So when I see one of these puppies- vintage suitcase record players (in thrift stores), I dive for them- especially when the needle is in tact (I really don’t need another project).

It seems like record players as these aren’t hard to find these days; Lucky for me and the rest of us. Although my restraint is weak. Please, go,! Go get them while there not hot(Stop me from buying a 4th! ).

BTW, I just picked up Dolly “Great Balls of Fire” and Johnny Mathis “Merry Christmas” records. 50 cents each. Muwah!

"I Count the Wings"!

It's been a while, too long. I had a block and hadn't made anything in months. It all started when I made some animals for a few stores. Somehow a batch of them ended up looking like stuffed hot dogs and penises with happy faces. I was pretty disappointed to say the least. (BTW, the penis and hot-dog looking guys never got in the stores). I had them in a suitcase in my closet. I HAD to get rid of them all in order to make anything else. Finally, at the Lifelong AIDS walk auction I sold the rest. Thank Heavens. Because without making SOMETHING I slowly slip into madness. And a little madness has seeped in.

Two days after getting rid of those guys I finished my first thing I'm thrilled about...just tonight - the first since I moved in my lovely apartment. The first of a sequence to come...I copied this here Charles Harper painting on a 30 X30 canvas. "Snowy Egret". I'm tickled pink...or more so orange, black and white. It hangs in our dining room, so bold and simple. I adore it; adore Charlie for creating it...and finally 4 months of nothing... it was worth the wait, pain and sorrow.

Charles Harper once said: "I don't count the Feathers, I count the wings". I say, Charlie! thanks for helping with my freedom!

Soon to come are more stuffed creatures. Something like this....

I shall sleep in peace again. ah.

I have a 12X48 canvas to work on...Thinking of a bird cage...but the birds are free...more Charles Harper, but more as infuence than exact copy. It's big though, so I hope to make it fabulous just like the last.
